Kyrroeth,

You are correct that they meddle all over the world… but it isn't like on TV. The vast majority of these people, from the leadership on down, are patriotic Americans trying to do right by the country. When we meddle, it is blessed from on high. It has happened under every President. The funny thing is, we then go back and complain… that is the height of hypocrisy.

When I heard the last administration complain about the Russians interfering in our election I actually laughed out loud. Did the Russians do so, almost definitely. Was this the first time, almost definitely not. Have other countries done this, of course. Have we done it to other countries… goodness I'm sure we have. And hearing Senators pound their chest about this, McCain leading the pack, makes me shake my head.

This is pure politics. What do they think regime change is? We've stuck our nose in so many places it doesn't belong. Why did we do it? We do this because our leaders at the time decide it is in our national interest to do this. The leaders of other countries that have the capability do the same thing to us if/when they think they can get away with it. Of course, turn about is not fair play when the turn about is happening to us.

I think it's funny that our government complains about the way Russia is treating the Ukraine. From what I read our government basically destabilized the pro-Russian government there and Russia knows it. We are the cause of the crisis there.

And what you read is absolutely right. You should read about the Panama Canal too. Panama was part of Columbia and President Roosevelt, Teddy Roosevelt, felt it was critical we had a canal to cut in half the time it took to get our ships from coast to coast. He was right. So he implied to Panamanian rebels that if they revolted, we would assist their fight for independence. Panama declared its independence we sent a ship to impede Colombia's reaction. Panama won its independence and in gratitude gave us the Canal Zone. But that's okay.... Because we did it.

Of course, that was a long time ago and now we only do things for altruistic reasons. Oh, and if you believe that give me a call and I have a bridge to sell you.

Yes the CIA has been instrumental in causing a lot of rif in many countries around the world. We do things that most Americans would be horrified about. I think that is why a lot of what the CIA does is kept under wraps. I doubt the sheeple could handle the truth.

Yes, we use aspects of our power to advance our national interests and the CIA is one of those aspects. We use so many other aspects of our power. As powerful nations go, we are fairly benign and we try to bring other countries up in standards as we rise. There have been plenty of world powers who didn't do this. That said, I'm pretty sure if our country was ever really threatened we'd pull out all the stops and do whatever is necessary to win, even if that meant a few, or even quite a few, innocents suffered.

Now why would they publish something like that. I know that some people think they need to know everything that is going on and want to know some things but there are some things that are better left unsaid or un reported for everyone's sake. Sometimes I think that WikiLeaks goes just a bit too far.

Indeed, I'll praise wikileaks for some of its work, some things are simply should not be a secret. Not the least of which being various illicit activities

But other secrets are kept because revealing them can cause a great deal of harm.

They need to learn the difference, and respect it.
