Novels With A Mormon Theme
I found this list of authors and books that either are written by LDS authors or deal with the church and its members as main characters in the books. Some are not going to show the church in a good light while others will. But with an LDS background, I think a lot of us might find the books interesting.

Theme Mormon With Novels
That is a very interesting list. However, it only deals with mystery writers.
The most public and visible LDS author is, of course, Orson Scott Card. Many of his books have overwhelmingly Mormon themes.
For example, his Alvin Maker series is based on the life of Joseph Smith. Also, the Homecoming series is based on the Book of Mormon.
