I love the Nativity Scenes. There are so many different types, but they all just seem so special in their own little way.

I was talking to a friend of mine a few days ago at a Christmas program, and she was telling me that she and her husband just bought their first Nativity Scene. The nativity scene characters are the Veggie Tales. For those who don't know who the Veggie Tales are, they're little vegetable characters cartoon type things. They're Christian based. She was describing to me about how Junior Asparagus was baby Jesus, etc.

Whether it's a goofy nativity or the serious one, it still conveys the message of Jesus.

The native scenes are also my favourite one.

I think is kind of odd, don't you think is kind of like a disrespect to the figure of Jesus Christ to have a Asparagus representing him?.

I agree with LDS, to me using cartoon characters lessons the seriousness of what a nativity scene represents. I think it cheapens it. Why must everything be made cutsie? I think it is a way to remove Christ even from nativity scenes. Many people will look at the veggie tales characters and think it is cute, but it will detract from the true meaning of the nativity scene. I know the veggie tales is a christian based cartoon, but next will be a nativity scene comprised of Simpson characters...

My favorite symbol of Christmas is the Christmas tree. I realize the correct answer from a religious view is probably to say it is the nativity scenes but to be honest the Christmas tree is my favorite. I have a nativity scene and I give it a place of honor in my home, but I really enjoy the nicely decorated Christmas tree.

I agree with tenaheff. Until the Christmas tree is up, it doesnt feel like Christmas to me. I love getting the tree out, and having my family help me with the decorations and lights. This year it was especially enjoyable since my 1 year old can walk around. Of course he was getting into everything; he even got tangled up in the lights. The look on his face after I put the angel on top of the tree and plugged it in was priceless!
