What lead me to start this thread was not the excellency of the plot or characters, but rather the supreme animation of the Japanese producers, who also made the Final Fantasy game. The animation is astounding - you can barely notice they are not real. The movie made me wonder - do you think animation will eventually replace all movies, including action and mystery?
When I left the theater after seeing Final Fantasy, I could not have explained the plot to anyone. I spent the entire movie admiring the animation. I doubt animation will replace all movies, but it would be nice to see a non scifi/fantasy movie done in cgi. Imagine going to see something like The Patriot, of Terms of Endearment in computer animation.
O.
I would like to comment that in my first post I did not mean that the plot and characters were excellent. It was quite the oppposite. The plot was cheesy with so many cliches.
But the animation - some of the characters you couldn't tell were real. I think if we will develope such animations to be more easy and accurate, one thing we can do is revive old and famous actors, and maybe bring some from different timelines to act together.
