Female Apostle

In the New & Old Testaments women were never called to any key positions save for Deborah. When Jesus Christ came to earth he chose only males as his Apostles. For a long time some religions have abstained from allowing women from participating from a position of leadership or priesthood - how do you explain this based on the Bible?

Apostle Female

If one is to explain it just based on the Bible, it is quite possible that we only see what the MEN who compiled the Bible wanted us to see. There are many other religious writings of the time, that the roman church leader at the time the Bible was compiled chose to not include. It is possible that some of this was for reasons other than just not thinking it important. It could have been to support a position that had already been taken that said women couldn't be leaders in the Church.

It is my understanding that there is evidence to suggest that in the early Church many women held prominent positions. Often the meetings were held in women's homes and were led by women. This isn't something you will read about in the Bible.

Now, that doesn't mean I believe women and men should all hold the exact same leadership roles within a church. I am just explaining how I think the Bible is or isn't involved.
