Your Longest Flight

What was your longest flight in an airplane? (including a change of airplanes in the middle) Where did you fly from and where to?

Well, that is a broad subject...several people every day fly a long time in planes...

Me, personally, the longest time I flew was 42000 miles, with only 18 hours to rest between stops.... of course I was an first office in an internationa airline (boeing 737)

that was a 2 weeks trip, flying around 8 hours and working 12 hours (4 hours on the ground), then going to an hotel and next day flying again...

But all the airline pilots do the same... the ones that go to europe from america have a crazy schedule.... they fly from their homes to new york, then fly to france, rest 18 hours, fly to india, rest 18 hours, fly back to france, rest 18 hours and then fly back to new york...then have to get an jumper seat home.

I'm describing an friend that lives in florida, works for delta and do this trip 4 times per month or more....

I was on this schedule for 2 and 1/2 years...he does fo 26 now... lot of sacrifice we pilot's do for our passangers....

Next time you see an airline pilot, think about this

hehe, I will. Of course I'm not a pilot, but the longest flight I had was 17 hours from the U.S to Israel.

My longest flight was to South Korea from the east coast U.S. when I was a kid. Recently I travel across the U.s. twice a year from coast to coast. 7 hours is all I want to spend in a plane, and I tend to enjoy flights around this range when traveling.

I think my longest non stop flight was Paris to Los Angeles. It was longer than the Los Angeles to Paris flight due to fighting against the jet stream instead of with it. I don't remember but I thing it was about 13-14 hours. Air France was the airline. The funny thing was, the plane was going on to Tahiti after Los Angeles and there were a bunch of people boarding in Paris going to Tahiti via Los Angeles. If you look at a globe, it is much, much shorter to go east instead of west to travel between Paris and Tahiti. That would be almost like flying from Los Angeles to New York via Tokyo.

My longest flight was from Okinawa (an Island in the Ryukyu islands off the coast of Japan) to Boston. Of course because I crossed the international date line the actual time traveled was much more than the amount of time that actually passed on the calendar/clock. I left Okinawa around 4:00 p.m. and arrived in LA around 5:00 p.m. same day after about 18 hours of travel. Then I still continued to the east coast from there.

My longest flight was from Chicago to London, which was about 8 hours long. I flew on a 777 which was quite enjoyable as each seat had its own monitor for watching individual movies and shows. The seats were also very spacious and there was sufficient leg room.

It took me 20 hrs to get from St Louis to Nagoya (Japan). The worst part: this did not include the 1 hr bus and 1.5 hr train ride to my final destination! I really do not look forward to these trips, but the company does allow for business class travel for flights over 8hrs.
