[medieval] The Rescue - Page 8

The Game Master says...

It is dark save for the pale moon above and being perceptive to what is around you is not apparent (especially with such low soul). You find yourselves making a circle as you dismount and arm yourselves. Mud is instructed to gather sticks and start a fire, but in your current position you do not have access to enough fuel on the ground to make such. He (Mud) then wonders if he should light a torch, but opts not to as he was not told to do this - he becomes distracted by all the sounds of the darkness and begins looking frantically for that which might hurt him as his hands clinch tightly around his weapon.

You begin to see more eyes, but these are not like the lights within the woods which seem to have all but disappeared now, no, these eyes have a look of hunger and they are pointing at you with a menacing delight... about 10 pairs and they are near the ground as though ready to leap. Your horses start to get very uncomfortable and you find yourselves trying hard to keep them from running off - your circle is broken.

GM: Say what you will do now.

Rescue medieval

The Game Master says...

Instead of making a quick escape on your fast horses you unwisely decide to stay and fend off the 'eyes' to maintain your position. While striving to calm her horse, Sabina is led slightly off from the defensive circle.

"Mud! Hold my horse so that I can get a torch lit!"

But Mud is too engrossed by fear and does not heed the call of Sabina who by now is being attacked by two wolves in the darkness.

GM a -2 modifier is applied to all player rolls for lack of vision with the wolves having a +2 for stealth within their 'turf'.

Sabina dodges their snaps and inflicts a deadly wound to one and the other she misses only managing to fend off the attack. She is left with one wolf to fend off.

Kron becomes engaged with two wolves and finds himself merely parrying with his armor as they try to snap at him.

Mud slashes one wolf as it falls to the ground an misses the other miserably, but manages to fend off their advances.

Joe in what seems to be an almost flawless execution kills two wolves with his great long sword.

RaulDrake finding himself matched with one wolf has great difficulty in executing a good swing and finds himself bitten (-3 HP)

Ramer finds two wolves upon him and he quickly executes one of them as the other leaps away to avoid his sword.

Kiro finds himself matched with a great wolf that is very aggressive and he knows this as her teeth sink deep into his skin (-5 HP)

You have been able to hold the horses at bay this round, but you fear they will break free in all the commotion.

GM: Say what you will do now. Party stats have been updated.

[medieval] The Rescue RPG PBP Medieval World

The Game Master says...

Unsure of what to do and partly confused by the tugging of your horses you let go the reigns as the wolves continue to attack without any pause...

Sabina swings, misses and then follows up with a hit that injures the wolf and it limps away quickly towards the forest...

Kron cuts into a wolf with such aggression that it splits him in two. The how made causes the other to run towards the forest.

Mud kills the last wolf before him.

The rest of the wolves quickly scatter and disappear into the forest. When you look around to see where everyone is you can barely make out a body on the ground...

It is Kiro... he is dead... a bad bite to the neck has left his head twisted out of form in a most gruesome manner. His eyes remain open as though still in shock.

Your horses have run off, but do not seem very far away, or at least you can still here their hoves and nostrils puffing air.

GM: Say what you will do now. Kiro is no longer in the group.

The Game Master says...

Ramer lights a torch thus making your presence even more clear now after fidgeting in the dark for a few minutes. During this time you can hear the rustling of bushes nearby and the eyes of those whom you thought had ran away are still gazing upon you. Ramer looks about to see if he can spot the horses... luckily they are not to far away, if you run now you can catch them before they hurry off again.

Joe heartily announces...

"Let us skin the mangy wolves. Those skins will be worth something in the village."

Seemingly in a state of ease Joe finds himself under attack again while Sabina, Mud, and Kron quickly run off to get the horses.

Small numbers become easier prey you quickly think as one wolf viciously leaps towards you and snaps a mere inch away from your limb, you parry quickly and the wolf lands to the ground.

Ramer turns around to see two already upon him. One leaps and misses Ramer while the other follows up only to meet the sharp edge of Ramer's weapon.

SidRaul then seeing the fury of these wolves looks in amazement as a pair of eyes comes towards him with such a focus that you know these wolves are not normal... she leaps through the air and you sway to one side, she lands and immediately turns her head in your direction, shows her long white fangs and she growls at you as saliva drips from her teeth like a thick paste...

Before you have time to think...

Joe slashes at what seems to be the great wolf in the pack and then once again they, a pack without a leader, disburse into the forest leaving you panting for breath with weapon in hand at all the excitement of avoiding being their dinner.

In the distance you can hear the others shouting in glee at finding the horses.

Rescue medieval

The Game Master says...

With a dim lit torch and calm horses once again in your grasp you set off quickly West to get away from the forest with strange lights. You know that will be an interesting story to tell later on in the Village tavern... if you survive. As you leave you can hear the sounds of wolves circling those that have fallen from their pack. You walk and walk with little sight of trails or paths... you are in the open plains and occasionally yous stumble as sight is very difficult. The sounds of wolves are still evident although very distant. You walk for the space of an hour, but really you do not know where you are as there are no visible lights evident for miles around. You feel lost...

GM: Say what you will do now. Probably around 9-10pm.

[medieval] The Rescue

The Game Master says...

You make a low cold camp that manages to get you through the night. At the break of dawn you see that the day is already clear of clouds and you can tell it will be ripe for movement. You break camp and head SouthWest towards the Mountains which puts you at about an hour's slow walk from Death's Mouth which is now to your West. You do notice something interesting from being this close to the mountains... at the top seems relatively flat and could make a great vantage point for seeing the surrounding area. By noon you partake of your rations in a devouring manner - you did not realize how hungry you were. (1 Ration deducted from everyone). Your next thought is fresh water, but in this area that is similar to a desert you see none so time is of essence.

You view the base of the jagged rocky mountain (your current location) and see that to climb them will require a grappling hook and rope. Horses cannot venture up there, but at the base you can probably make a small hiding place near the large cavities and rocks.

GM: Say what you will do now. It is 1pm

[medieval] Rescue - Page 8

The Game Master says...

For so long you have been in a consistent stupor of thought and this has allowed the darkness of night is but mere hours away. The thought of being so close to Death's Mouth tantalizes you to either start moving or meet your peril in a place where no one cares nor makes any empathetic suggestions for your welfare.

GM: Action will be taken by the GM if this game does not start by the end of today.

The Game Master says...

Seeing a standstill in movement Glyphfury and Kron decide to journey East of your location for a better place to camp or maybe some opening unexplored. You all agree that this is best having been undecided for so long.

Hours pass by as you sit by some rocks near the Mountain. Darkness becomes apparent and soon everything within a short distance is already dim. You will need a torch you think to yourself if you are to make sense of your locality.

You hear groans and you raise immediately with weapon in hand.

"It is Kron", someone shouts out recognizing his attire and shape. You run over to where he is bracing himself against a rock. he tries to say something, but falls silent, his eyes close and his muscular body becomes limp - he falls to the ground. You lean over him, shaking his body for any signs of consciousness. Only then you recognize the wetness you feel on your hands is his blood. It seems like he was in some sort of battle, but it is too dark to make any judgements.

GM: Glyph and Fury are now dead and no longer in the game. Party stats have been updated. Say what you will do now. 6pm.
