I have spent years not being able to create anything, because nothing I did was "Good enough". I thought art was something you have to study, and work at, and study some more, and struggle and agonize over.
That might work for some people, but it sure didn't work for me. All it did was make me miserable, and creatively paralyzed.
So I tried something else. Instead of working, I started playing. I bought some clay, and started making dolls. Not 'art' dolls, not tiny sculptures, just silly little fantasy figures. I wasn't doing them as practice for doing something better, they weren't studies for later projects, they were just something I did because it made me laugh.
And they set me free. They taught me that art can be fun, and that made it worth doing.
What do you do to make art fun?
Ken that's so true thank you for sharing it! Funny thing art is a relative subject because what might look good to you doesn't look that way to others. If anything my art is the way I dress and make up myself. I see myself as living art and I constantly have to put my makeup just right. Edited: Stacia on 13th Sep, 2015 - 2:55pm
