Who Was Jesus?

This thread is started for the soul purpose of getting different views on who Jesus is. I am writing a paper and need a wide variety of opinions and views from different religions and sects of those religions. I will list some specifics below that I am looking for.

1. Who do you say that Jesus was?
2. Why do you feel that way? IE: Religious books, scriptures, your church teaches is and so on, specifics not feelings, unless your feelings are your specifics.
3. What is your religion, if christian, please specify sect or denomination.
4. Who is Jesus to you, on a personal level: is he nothing to you, your savior, something different?

Please do not use this thread to debate the specifics of who Jesus was, only to post your personal views and why you hold them. I will not be responding to any of the views accept to thank you or pull the thread back inline with what I'm looking for. Remember, I am looking for a wide variety of views and opinions here, please feel free to post as you really feel as there will be no recourse since this isnt a thread to debate views on Jesus.

Who Was Jesus? Beliefs Religious General

1. Who do you say that Jesus was?
Good question. You place the emphasis on the word, "was". I would say it, "Who do you say that Jesus is?"

Jesus is the Firstborn among Heavenly Father's spirit children. He is the Only Begotten of Heavenly Father, among the mortal lives of God's children. As such, He (Jesus) partook of our mortal frailties, pains, and temptations. But he also had the power of His Immortal Father to command the elements, to use higher laws than those most commonly known to mankind, and to lay down and take back up His very life.

He is the Example we should follow to receive the greatest blessings that our Father has for us. He is our Savior in that He did the things necessary for us to make true changes in our lives. He is our Redeemer, in that His life, death, and resurrection paid the price that is required for us to become whole from the sin, weakness, pain, and iniquity that are parts of our mortal lives. Thus he redeemed us from the debts of mortality.

2. Why do you feel that way?
Because of what the Bible, Book of Mormon, Pearl of Great Price, and Doctrine and Covenants teach me about Him.

3. What is your religion, if christian, please specify sect or denomination.
A member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

4. Who is Jesus to you, on a personal level: is he nothing to you, your savior, something different?
He is my Lord, Savior, and Redeemer. He is my Eldest Brother, my Example, my Guide.

Jesus Who

1. Who do you say that Jesus was?
Jesus is the Son of God, who was manifested in the form of man, to come into the world, to show us the path to everlasting life with our Heavenly Father.

2. Why do you feel that way? I was raised in a Christian home, and taught from the Holy Bible. The teachings of the Bible show us what our purpose is in life and how we can attain salvation for eternal life.

3. What is your religion? I am a Christian first and foremost, because I believe in the teaching of Jesus Christ. As for religious sect, I have been affiliated with many different sects in my lifetime. I was baptized in the Presbyterian church, but currently attend the Catholic church with my wife, who is a devout Catholic.

4. Who is Jesus to you, on a personal level: is he nothing to you, your savior, something different? Jesus is the model of what my life should be like, but can never be like, because it is the purest form of man. He is my Savior because he suffered and died for my sins, and through him I can achieve eternal salvation.

Who Was Jesus?

With due respect to the both of you, I didn't intend for this thread to become a debate about the Godhood of Jesus. I would be very glad to open a thread about the subject to discuss. But the question clearly pointed out that the thread was for informational purposes only. However, Jmiss, I do very much welcome your candidness on the question above. I will take into account a point of view I hadn't until now, the skeptic, and the one who is unsure but wanting to learn. Its something that I should have thought about but didn't.

Message Edited!
The two preceding posts to which this post refers have been moved to their own thread Why do you Believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God?"
