Suicide

When a human arrives to the conclusion that there is no reason to live they terminate their life thus committing suicide. The subject of discussion is NOT wether suicide is wrong or right, but this: What happens to the soul of someone that takes their own life? Consider: How they will be judged, where they go to and how they must feel after death - the same, indifferent, joyful.

I think that when a person commits suicide, that they are still in torment. I also believe that God comforts them after they are dead. I think that God is love and therefore would want to comfort his children that have been in such torment that they kill themselves. It is my belief that suicide brings people to death early but that they are still welcomed by god and that they cannot receive comfort until seeing God. That is of course only my opinion.

Well, I believe we are the same person immediately after death as immediately before. I think there are changes, but as to who we are, I think that is the same. Anything that hasn't been resolved here on earth will still need to be resolved. I don't think the person who commits suicide is condemned, necessarily. I think they will be judged on an individual basisfor all their acts not just this one final one. The Savior is very loving and wants us to be happy. I think when we choose to end our lives, it is likely we have not made the choice the Lord would have wanted for us, but I don't think this choice is unforgivable. So, I don't think suicide solves anything because the torment will still exist in some form which will still need to be resolved, but I also don't think suicide removes all hope of salvation either.

Suicide

As a child, I was taught that suicide was against God's will, and that those who committed it would not be saved. It was simple as that. As I grew up, I questioned that more and more, because, as has been mentioned here, I could not see how one could be held accountable on only one act. However, can't the same be said about the person who lives a good life, then one day is confronted by another and kills that person. He is then shot and killed by police officials. Will he be saved? Very simplistic example, I agree, but he did not have the opportunity to ask for forgiveness. Will he be held accountable for this one action alone? This brings up the issue of what happens to us after death, and that is also debatable. I will conclude by saying, that in my opinion, suicide is just as wrong as murder, and therefore that person will be judged by God accordingly.

I think that the persons state of mind depends a lot on what pushed them to suicide. Some people have very serious mental health problems that are largely due to chemical imbalances, or other problems that are centered in the physical body. With a problem like that, the pain would go away as soon as the persons soul was freed from their body. Of course they would probably be filled with regret, and remorse at the act, but that's something they would have to work through.

If the reason for suicide is largely due to circumstances, then they are still going to feel pretty wretched after death, and wont have solved much.

As for judgement, thankfully that's entirely up to God, and I tend to think that he's merciful. I don't think that it's possible to make a blanket statement about what happens to those who suicide, that judgement is made on a case by case basis. One thing I can say for sure though, is that I've had some long conversations with the Lord about it, and for me suicide would be a one way ticket to condemnation.

But I don't believe that that is true for everyone.

Suicide

It makes me so sad to know that there are wonderful people out there who believe, for reasons only they know, that either their life is not worth living or that they are not worthy to live. It breaks my heart.

I do believe in a merciful, loving God who will take each case individually. We cannot know how great that love is, until we come into the presence of it. There is a particular LDS scripture that describes God weeping at the suffering of his children. I believe He completely understands each person's situation and circumstances, and will particularly pour forth His love on those who suffer most.

Suicide

My uncle, who was like a father to me since he raised me since I was a year old, comitted suicide 3 years ago. It was devastating for me and my family. He went through a lot of things in life and his state of mind in the last years were not good. I think he was very sick psychologically and even though some people may believe he is in "hell" right now for what he did, I strongly feel he is in peace now and that God is there helping him to understand what he did. My uncle was a good man who raised me and my sister since we were babies, he sacrificed many, many things for us when we did not have anybody else in the world...I know God will not overlook that fact and that he will be judge like me or you accordingly to our actions and circumnstances.

Suicide General Religious Beliefs

I personally think that killing your self is a quick fix to the pain they are feeling on earth. I think no matter what you have if its Bipolar or Bipolar 2 they have medicine for people with that type of illness. I know how it feels to have manic depression but when it comes down to it you need to think of the example your leaving behind and the torment your leaving with your family and friends. Then you will think twice. If your in pain and can't seem to find anyother way out then you turn to others for help. As being a mormon I turned to my father who is a priesthood holder to give me a blessing. Thats how I would escape my pain.
my .2 cents
