Why Invade Iraq First? - Page 2

I think we invaded Iraq because it was an easy target and Saddam has already spit in the eye of George Bush Sr. GWB wanted to take Saddam out, no matter what the reason. The evidence is significant in showing that the President was both aware of and warned about the lack of evidence. When the 'evidence' our government had was presented to the UN, they balked because it was not nearly enough to support going to war.

On that note, we know it was personal because he didn't bother to go about using the right methods for declaring war. But then again he couldn't. In order to get what he wanted, he waited until the Patriot Act was signed, declared Iraq to be a terrorist nation, then declared war. Via the Patriot Act, he was able to declare war without congress since it was deemed a terrorist nation and this followed rules that bypass most of the government. Which is the reason the Patriot Act is foul.

We know Bush has the capability to lie and connive since he recently was forced to admit that he had signed orders to allow illegal wire taps on US citizens he they were considered terrorist threats. Not one of them has been arrested or charge, and no good reason for a wire tap has been substantiated. That means it was an exercise in taking away freedoms to see how far he could get. He says he will still do it. So he won.

In short, we attacked Iraq first due to a personal vendetta that Bush has against Saddam. They were an easy target and one we thought we could beat and look like hero's. One only needs to ask one question in regards to the war. Why, when attempting to "stomp out terror" did we force a war on a country that Bush obviously knew had no WMD's?

First Iraq Invade Why

Name: John

Comments: Iraq was only a staging area for a possible ground invasion of Iran and intended to be a compliment to a possible air attack on Iranian facilities. Iraq was the easier target of the 2 Axis of evil countries. This was most likely thought up by Wolfowitz, but poorly planned. Instead of oil profits paying for the war the American taxpayer was left holding the bag. It is basically a game of chess to take the weaker pieces out first. It is true also that America feared taking on N. Korea or Iran because those countries are more deadly to our forces.

Well if you take into consideration that 40% of the world's oil runs through that region you might suspect some foul play.
