Political Debates

Humans are often creatures of debate and Politics rank as one of the top subjects for which careless words are hurled at each other. Consider the following questions you should ask yourself before answering or giving your opinion about a political subject or event within these Boards:

1. Have you established enough credibility with your posts already?
2. Is your political leader guilty of the same thing you plan to attack?
3. Can you confirm the accusation?
4. Have you verified the source are you clear in your writing?
5. Will anyone care or are you just ranting?
6. Do you know why your/their leaders did it?
7. Was the evidence obtained legally or through bribe?
8. Last, but not least, do you know what you are talking about?

Are there other things to be considered?

Debates Political

Very few people will debate politics or religion while actually knowing what they are talking about. Most people debate based on their emotions or their own biassed towards a particular group. That doesn't happen as much on this forum as most people who stay around here are intelligent and would not think of simply posting without knowing what they are talking about. To me, to debate an issue and have credibility, you have to be willing to be wrong and admit it. If someone calls you on an issue and shows that your opinion is not warranted, don't just not post again, be a stand up guy and post back that you hadn't considered that point of view, or that you where unaware of the information being presented. That is something that is generally missing from a good debate is someone admitting that they can be or are already wrong about and opinion, or even that there is another view on the subject.
