Firefighters Leave Stove On, Causing Fire
WATERLOO, Iowa (AP) - Firefighters returned to a smoke-filled fire station after they left food cooking on a stove. Firefighters rushed off on an ambulance call Wednesday night, forgetting to remove the chicken they were cooking, officials with the fire department said. Before they could return, a neighbor spotted smoke coming from the fire station and called dispatchers.

When I was in fourth grade, a fire fighter came to my school to tell us the dangers of unwatched fires. He told us all the ways fires start and how much damage they can do. That day I learned that cigarettes and stoves cause allot of house fires, along with outlets going bad. I find it extremely ironic, and kind of disturbing, that these fire fighters disobeyed their own rules. However, I suppose they should be given the benefit of the doubt since they where most likely rushing out to a fire emergency situation and since they routinely save lives.
