Executives talk a blue streak about the importance of developing talent. But many quickly form rigid opinions of staffers and then resist changing those views despite evidence that employees have matured, become more seasoned or possess talents that weren't apparent when they were first hired.

Workers Pigeonhole
My last boss before my current job pigeonholed me bad. When I asked him why, since I was doing so well, I couldn't move up to the lead position, he told me because its hard to find a good tech than it is to find a good lead. Thats a classic case of pigeonholing because you like having good talent for cheap. They would have had to give me a big upgrade in pay. Corporate America has a problem doing this to its best workers.
