BEDBUG POPULATIONS CREEPING UP AGAIN

After a 40-year lull, bedbugs are showing up in ever greater numbers across Canada, thanks in part to jet-setting travellers who accidentally import them from Asia and Africa.

I recently heard about a problem where some people in my area became infested after taking a cruise. Well, actually, they didn't become infested because they left their belongings from the cruise in their garage. Their cruise room was infested and so they were afraid to bring their belongings inside after the cruise.

Also, some of the apartment complexes in the cities near me are having problems with this.

See.... this is exactly why my luggage stayed outside and every single thing in it's contents was scrubbed and washed before even entering my house to be washed in the laundry. I am a fanatic when it comes to bugs, and after how badly I was attacked by the bugs over there, I was certain they were not going to come with me into my house. I saw ticks on the walls of where we stayed, and those little pests were the reason I would not sleep at night. I was a nervous wreck.

Everywhere I stay, I bring my bottle of disinfectant (which I carry in my purse 24/7) and I lift sheets up and spray hoping that whatever is there would die off or at least leave me alone for the night. Call me crazy.... but you never know what's in the sheets at places you stay.

YOU'RE NOT DREAMING, THAT'S A BEDBUG

Bedbugs are back, and they're not just rearing their rust-colored heads in New York City. Experts say they're spreading to other states and countries.

This is really worrying, the standards of hygiene at some hotel complexes are just not up to scratch.
A few years ago, we went to Florida, and the whole hotel complex was bug ridden!
There were insects up the walls in the bedroom, in the bathroom, and also crawling in the chest of drawers! Not to mention blood stains all over the bed base (although the mattress did appear to be ok)
We complained, and got nowhere, so we had to put up with it. We ended up 'living' out of our suitcases, and on the last day, somebody had forgotten to zip one of our suitcases up and we just saw something black jump into it!
I was so frightened of going into the suitcase, I just took the whole case outside, and shook it all out, and then had to pack all our stuff up again.
It really spoils the holiday, when you are constantly worrying about something you may catch whilst on holiday!
