Those who quit taking the pill in the second year of the study regained most of what they'd lost, suggesting that people might have to take the drug indefinitely to maintain a lower weight. |
I agree - I don't believe there is anything out there that can be truly labeled a miracle pill. If it was a miracle, it would take the weight away and keep it off.
In the article, it explains that they are also testing it's affect to help people quit smoking, and it seemed to work rather well. The reason there are thousands of products like this is because one product may work for a couple people, and another make work for some other people. To me, it just seems too risky to be trying all sorts of products and tolerating their side effects when you can just put your mind to it and kick the habit.
Offtopic but, I am not a smoker, but my husband smoked for over ten years, and I witnessed him quit cold turkey without taking any supplements. |
People in general are always looking for a quick fix and the fact that these kinds of products sell so well shows that no one is wising up to what it means to be healthy. In the case of overweight fat is just a byproduct of being unhealthy. They may take a pill, loose weight and still be unhealthy.
Taking pills is very dangerous, no matter what, the body can use some at times in cases of dire need, but in taking pills the body looses the ability to manufacture things on its own and when one thing goes then it has a sympathetic happening to other parts of the body, as well as the brain.
