Sgt. Ernest (Smokey) Smith will be remembered as a "much respected and remarkable national hero," Canada's defence minister said as he described the Victoria Cross recipient at his funeral Saturday.

Smith smokey Ernest Sgt
From reading about this man, it sounds like he was a freedom fighter. For all his deeds, he seemed in interviews that he was still humble. That is the type of man we need in the world today. He may not of been American, but that type of man cannot pass from the world without making an impact. He is truly someone I would have liked to meet.
