AP - With a rival bidder backing away from the table, Maytag Corp. embraced a buyout offer of more than $1.7 billion in cash and stock from the nation's largest appliance maker, Whirlpool Corp.

Maytag Acquire Whirlpool
Wow, this ones a big one! Two of the biggest names in appliances now to combining if everything goes through as it looks too. I wonder if Whirlpool will keep the warranty scheme of Maytag and guarantee the products as well as they do. I would hate to see it go down hill. Not to say the whirlpool doesn't make high quality appliances, its just that Maytag always stands behind theirs longer.
