Anyone in good enough condition to run three miles a day is in good enough condition not to have to. -- Unknown
I think it is too soon to even guess how successful they will be. They lost their offensive coordinator. I think that is huge. They have also lost a key play in Tedy Bruschi. I had high hopes until that loss. After they play a few games, it will be more evident if they still have what it takes or not.
Patriots Defeat Raiders 30-20
AP - New England's quest for an unprecedented three straight Super Bowl victories is in good hands with two stars the Patriots didn't lose: Tom Brady and Richard Seymour. Brady threw for 306 yards and two touchdowns and Seymour made a game-turning defensive play as the Patriots beat Oakland 30-20 Thursday night.
The Patriots selected Laurence Maroney, a RB from the University of Minnesota. I live in Minnesota, so got to see almost all of their games. I can honestly say that Maroney is a talented back, and in a scheme like New England's, he can really make a difference. The Gophers led the nation in rushing yards per game in 2005 largely due to Maroney's presence. Another solid pick by the Patriots.
DOUG FLUTIE HANGS UP CLEATS
New England Patriots quarterback and former Canadian Football League star Doug Flutie announced his retirement from professional football on Monday after 21 seasons.
In my mind, Flutie will always be a CFL hero. Yes, he retired with the Patriots, but he spent the majority of his career in the CFL, and was very successful at that level. His 'hail mary' pass at Boston College will also be a trademark of his legacy.
