Capturing Mark 9:24

QUOTE
Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief.
                                              Mark 9:24

This is one of my favorite scriptures. I came across this scripture most recently at a time when I was having a difficult time with my faith in one particular area. This scripture really spoke to me. I realized that if I knew what I was supposed to do, and if I knew what the scriptures promised, but I was having difficulty exhibiting the faith necessary to really fully trust in the promise, I could be honest with the Lord about my concerns. I could tell the Lord I needed his help with my faith in that particular area. He is willing to help me with any righteous desire I have, even if that desire is nothing more than having Him help me with my faith.

When I think about the fact that the Lord loves me so much that he will help me even if I don't have the faith I should, I am amazed. Not only will He help me when I have faith and choose to exercise it, but he will help me when I know what my faith should be, but am having trouble putting that faith into action.

I am overwhelmed by this. I really can't express it adequately in words. This may be the best "promise" that we have. All we really need is to have a sincere desire to do what is right and He willl help us actually do it. I really love the Savior. He is so good to me.

Boy, you took the words right out of my mouth. I think this is an excellent way to describe the above scripture. I can completely relate to what you have said.

It is interesting when you think about it. Most of us have a testimony but our testimony might be stronger in some areas and not as strong in others. I think for me having a testimony in faith is something I struggle with. I don't know why that is either. I continually find myself in situations where I know I should believe that the Lord will sustain me and help me get through, yet I sometimes feel I lack the faith required to "fully believe" in that sustaining. In situations that I feel I lack faith, the situation always seems to work itself out and the Lord always seems to help. Although I don't deserve it, the Lord helps me, regardless of my unbelief.

I feel like I am going through something exactly like this at work right now. I have a situation that I am being faced with where I know the Lord will help me, but I am afraid to execute on the decision. Even though I believe the Lord will help me, I am REALLY struggling with executing. This scripture fits wonderfully with this scenario.

I have to continually remind myself that faith can move mountains, but I shouldn't be surprised if the Lord hands me a shovel.
