How closely did the movies follow the books? If they were to a tee then I guess we can figure on it being so, but there always is some room for something new? Seeing that they are asking Harrison Ford to come again I guess there will now be a shift away from Anakin... but can there really be, since Luke is the blood of Anakin and will still live for the seventh episode.

Factor Anakin - Wars Star

To be honest, there were no true books to map exactly to the movies, or else the plot of the last 3 episodes would have been given away. The books generally came after the movies were released. However, Lucas does talk about each of the characters past their existence in the 6 movies released so far, which is where I learned about Hans and Leia and their children. From what I've read, Luke ends up pledging allegiance to the Emperor, which reminds me; did I mention that the Emperor is really not dead? Long story short, he is still alive, and Luke pledges allegiance to him, but in the hopes of using his inside position to overthrow him. However, he has to deal with his becoming more of the dark side and Hans and Leia, along with their children, end up saving him. It would make for an interesting 3rd trilogy, however Lucas has already said he would not direct them. I don't think they'd be the same without Lucas.
