BUGGER - NO SHARING A SWIG
Phrases such as bugger and sheep-shagger are acceptable, but apparently there is no place on the telly for an advertisement showing a father and son swigging fruit juice from the same bottle.

In the Uk also there are stringent laws as to which advertisements will be allowed to be shown on TV, and which ones will not.
Just recently there has been an advert on TV, advertising a new childrens' wipe for when they have been to the toilet, to wipe their bottom with. It showed a boy of about 5, obviously sitting on the toilet and waiting to wipe himself. It was professionally done, so that nothing 'was explicitly' shown, and nobody complained about this, but what the public viewers found offensive, was the fact that when the boy had used the toilet, he just jumped down and went to play, without washing his hands!
Therefore they pulled the plug on this advert, and had it removed.
As your article suggests, so many 'bad' words are accepted in society on a day to day basis, and nobody batters an eyelid, and yet people are so quick to judge others, if they are deemed to have stepped out of line in other ways.
One of the words that I don't like used in everyday life is 'bloody', apparently it is not classed as swearing, but I still wouldn't want my kids using it. ie-- (not as in I've got a bloody finger, but as in-- will you just pass me the bloody salt?
Really not nice in my opinion
