How Many Bibles Do You Own? - Page 2

I find myself using the Parallel Bible for most New Testament study, its easier to understand whats being said with four separate translations: New International Version, King James Version, New American Standard Version, and the Living Word translation (which I'm not fond of). Each have something to add to the study.

But when researching and studying the Old Testament, I find the direct Hebrew to English translation is best. Most modern Bibles have been translated from the Latin Vulgate, which was itself translated from Greek, and itself from Hebrew. I think going to the source helps.

My parents have a center piece Bible that was supposed to be passed on to me. It has our family tree in it. I was really hoping to get it when my parents pass on, but since I don't carry their faith, I don't know if thats even possible.

All in all, anyone who is a true study should have more than one translation, they lend allot more to study than most realize.

I personally have just 2 Bibles, one is a KJV, which was a gift from missionaries when I used to be a member of the LDS church, and the other is a Good news Bible.The good news one is as old as me, as it was a present when I was born.

My Husband and my Son both have a NIV Bible, which is the version that they both prefer.

and my 2 little ones have the children's Bible.They love the pictures in these.

There is always one on our table.

I just have one! I think otherwise I'd have one in every room of my house because I misplace mine often. Mine, however is full of notes in margins and underlinings and small pieces of paper when I had questions that needed clarification. I love my KJV Bible. I never travel without my Bible, my BOM and small note paper to make notes for myself for service or home study. I ask a lot of questions, I think I am getting annoying!

I own three, KJV (Family Bible), KJV, and Holy Scriptures (Joseph Smith Translation).
