Man Fined For Crossing The Road Too Slowly
The judge should have ordered the police to pay for all the expenses! What they did was ridiculous.
A man, who was charged with crossing the road too slowly, is now free and won't have to pay.
The man in Australia, who was fined for crossing the road too slowly, decided to fight the charge rather than paying the fine.
Now, he has escaped a conviction after the judge criticized the police. Judge Sue O'Connor of Adelaide, Australia, criticized the police and the district attorney for pursuing the charges. The judge joked and said the man could have been just "Doing the [Charisma]-[Charisma], where is the crime in that?"
James Claassen, 33, of Perth fought the law and won, but only after spending hundreds of dollars in airfare to fly to hearings in Adelaide, 1,700 miles from home. The police finally dropped the charges, which they had pursued for over a year. The maximum penalty was a $43 fine.
