My Trip To Alaska On The Norwegian Pearl

For my 50th birthday I went on a cruise to Alaska with my entire family. This is our second trip to Alaska on the same cruise line on a different ship.

We have been planning this cruise for about six months so when our sail date tools around we were very excited.

We departed from Seattle Pier 66 on Sunday July 21st 2013 at 4:00 PM. The weather was glorious and we were so excited as we cruised through the Harbour.

Sunday and Monday were sea days - Meaning no port of calls just at sea. We traveled on the outside passage up to Alaska and the water was okay. I took seasick pills because I get motion sickness very easily.

The food was good, plentiful however it was very rich. I understand why people gain an easy 10 pounds when they going to cruise. We make sure to walk after each meal. 2.75 laps around the ship, was a mile. We walked a minimum of 3 miles a day. It was easy for me to get my 10,000 steps in. I took walking sticks or hiking poles this time for extra stability because I was afraid of falling and I'm glad I did.

The alcohol flowed freely and new friendships were made throughout the ship.

The entertainment was okay- Not outstanding but really okay. The one standout was a piano player named Jim who played on deck six every night from 7 to 11 and he was hilarious. Not only was he a wonderful candle player he was funny and knew all of the old-time songs and make fun of people as they walked back-and-forth to his room. In fact even poked fun at the captain which was the hysterical!

Tuesday we pulled into Juneau. It was full of Eagles much like sparrows or crows are common birds and other areas of the world the bald eagle is very common here. We saw otters, seals, orca whales and the giant humpback whale. Mind blowing! We were disappointed we didn't see any bears but hey you can't have everything. The weather was mild and ball me about 68°

Wednesday we cruised up to Skagway Alaska. SNORE - Boring boring boring. Everything was extraordinarily expensive! Every piece of jewelry was $2000 USD - And that was marked down.

Thursday with glacier Bay. If you going to the photo album on the site you will see my pictures of glacier Bay. It was glorious, gorgeous and breathtaking. That was worth the whole trip.

Friday we cruised down to Ketchikan Alaska which I loved. It rained but I'm used to rain so it's no big deal. Lots of fresh Salmon and Alaska king crab to be had.

Saturday we arrived in Victoria BC- Incredibly disappointing. The weather was lovely though *smile*

I highly recommend at least one time going to Alaska on a cruise there's lots to do lots of excursions and you'll be kept busy smile.gif
