I did a couple of times as a kid. I did it to see what it would be like. Nothing was ever so difficult. I can't imagine someone who has no other way to write. I came away with a great respect for people who do this on a regular basis.

I once read about an artist who taught himself to draw with his feet, because he was afraid he would lose his arms in a train accident. He would pin a large sheet of paper to a wall, then lie on his bed to draw. Which, I admit, sounds like a lovely way to spend an afternoon.
