CANADIAN WOMAN OFFERS HER DEAD BODY FOR DISPLAY
A Toronto woman, not content with having merely a dusty demise, has become the first Canadian to donate her body for public display after she dies.

This is very interesting. I am an organ donor because I would like for someone to be able to benefit from my good health after I'm no longer using this body. But -- I don't see where this is really doing mankind a huge service by being put on display for people to see. I understand seeing the human body from the inside and all that -- but, we do have text books that show the same thing. It's more "sensational" than helpful in my opinion.
Well, apparently this isn't anything too abnormal in that area. Her body wouldn't be the only one on display. The woman said she wanted to do something creative, and thought that would be perfect. I'm not so sure I would want my body on display. Yes, I think I'd like to be buried.
About a year ago there was an exhibition whose name I already forgot but it dealt with human body, muscles, phases of motion. All exhibits were made of real bodies that were donated to the science.
Basically, a body was put in a necessary position, then it was cut so that the bones, muscles, tendons and sinews were exposed.
To preserve the bodies, some fluid was used that gave them a look and, probably, a texture of plastic, although they looked terrifyingly real (which they were, in any case).
I do believe it might be interesting for scientific and educational purposes. My ex girlfriend who is a biology major and an amateur artist, found it very interersting, but I am not sure I'd go there. Just a natural feeling of, frankly speaking, something close to disgust.
I am fine with the people who gave their bodies for this because it was their own choice and after all they had a life before it.
Wonder what their relatives might feel, though...
"And if you are a good girl, on Sunday I'll take you to visit the Grandma in the museum..."
What makes me really sad and gives me some strange feeling, is the Kunstkamera museum in my city. It is the first museum of the city and it was started as a Freak place, that is a lot of - I do believe scientifically interesting - cases of inborn pathalogies were gathered there: like siamese twins, people with three eyes, things like this.
The saddest thing is that they all are babies: either those that never were born or those who died (or maybe were put to death) soon after their birth. The impression is very strong and very special.
I mean, to see on display the lives that never even started and that were put in those jars without their agreement or good will is not the same as to see well-formed and obvioulsy well-lived bodies of the people who by some reason chose this After Death existence for themselves.
