Painting Furniture

I just recently stumbled on two FABULOUS chairs at the local Good Will. I haven't painted on furniture for professional reasons before, but the price was so good that I couldn't pass the opportunity up. I'm finished with the first chair, - I'll try to post pictures as soon as my digital starts working again - and am beginning on my second tomorrow. Also, since everybody has visited and seen my new "masterpiece", I've had three more chairs and a desk donated to my cause!

I just love how you can stumble upon something completely new to you, and before you know it, BAM! You're working at it with all your heart and soul.

Anyway, has anyone else ever attempted to hand paint their furniture? What did you attempt, and how was the end result?

Furniture Painting

My sister is brilliant at this and she usually asks me to paint flowers (usually orchids) or something on it after so it becomes like an antique with a fine art piece in the middle. She also sells some of these works and has made a good raise doing so.
