Is this a joke? It is a KNOWN fact that cattle are mistreated before slaughtering as well as other animals, I don't know why makes this particular case unique. If we really see how they kill these animals, we will all become vegetarians within a minute.
I do not condone the actions toward these animals, but I find it interesting that they would recall beef because of mistreatment.
They are being killed so that we can eat them. That is by necessity a violent process. They are either killed with a slug (most "humane" but expensive), bashed in the head with a hammer or other automatic bludgeoning device or electrocuted. There is also the method where a cow is hung by the legs and the animal's throat is slit and bled dry.
Is there any real humane way to take the life of another animal? I am sure some ways are more compassionate then others

Actually, the recall really is not based on mistreatment, but rather that there was mistreatment of cows that were downed or even more to the point...downed cows were processed. Now there are several reasons that a cow may not stand up: just doesnt want to, injured, sick, etc... It is that possibility that the downed cows were sick that is resulting in the beef recall. There is a rule that cows that are down are not to be processed and this company violated that rule many times. Also, it is likely that the recall pretty much is for not as most of the beef recalled has already been consumed. The company deserves what is coming to them...
