Yay for another Jane Austin fan! I love the Colin Firth version of Pride and Prejudice. I bought it on DVD about a year ago, and I cannot tell you how many times I have watched the five hour movie. I really want to see the original Pride and Prejudice with Lawrence Olivier. I have seen bits and pieces of it, but not in its entirety.

Have you seen the newest movie with Keira Knightly in it? I wasn't too sure about it from some of the previews I saw.

Introduction MissMolly

Oooh! I'm so scared to watch it! I can't believe they keep it close enough to the Colin Firth one to make me happy. I like Lizzy not being the stunning Keira Knightly. It's almost an underdog story! Of course the Lizzy in the other is pretty too. I'm listening to Persuasion in the car on audiobook. Have you ever read that? I hadn't. I saw that it was published posthumously, so I wondered about it. Also, because now I'm on a roll :laughs: Did you ever read what was supposed to be Pride and Prejudice part two? It's called Pemberly or something, I can't remember. That was horrid! I almost threw the book across the room for being such a mess!

I'm happy to find another fan, all my "real life" friends think I'm nuts for not wanting to read things like Danielle Steele and things like that. I tell them -- Smut is just not my type of reading!

Best,

MM

The thing that has stuck out in my mind about the new one is part of a preview I saw. She was sitting, wrapped up in a blanket, and he was kissing her. My jaw dropped because they didn't kiss until the end. I am really hoping they didn't modernize a classic story.

The thing about Elizabeth Bennet is that she is supposed to be plain, but beautiful. The woman that played her in the Colin Firth edition was perfect because she looked like your normal woman. She wasn't some gorgeous model, but her appearance almost grows on you like it does with Mr. Darcy. Our minds are so used to the heroine being some drop dead hot 'babe' that a normal looking person almost seems awkward. laugh.gif

I haven't even heard of Pemberly. Did Austin write it? I have tried to sit down and read Mansfield Park a few times, but I just don't have the time to dedicate to it at the moment. With her writing, I have to be able to sit for hours at a time, uninterupted.

*laughs* BabyBlues did it! *points* No, it's fine! I think I get partial credit because I'm still learning the ropes. And yes, I really liked it here and I found myself with an additional bit of money so I put it to good use! I'm really liking it thus far!

I can't draw a straight line with a ruler. Want to know what I did? I'm kind of talking to myself here! I was in the forum shop and I was going to buy a cool crystal ball thingy for myself and I clicked on George Bush. Now -- I have nothing personal against the man, but I don't want him in my profile *or* posts. That makes me not so happy. I trashed him, but then I felt bad about having done that. Should I have done something else with him? I hate feeling guilty about trashing someone! *laughs*

Just buying an item does not mean it is used until you actually click 'Use' in your Forum Shop Inventory, so in other words, you did not have to trash it, just keep it in your Inventory and no one will ever know.

....no one will ever know.

Oh my gosh this is so funny! It sounds like a bad conspiracy movie! I laughed so hard when I saw your post, JB! It was like "If you pretend it didn't happen... nobody will be any wiser!" It was just so funny! I think I'm a little punch-drunk as I have been working on a major paper all day and I am brain-fried!
