Supreme Court won't review decision striking down Texas voter ID law

The Supreme Court on Monday let stand a lower court's decision striking down Texas' tough voter ID law, handing voting rights advocates at least a temporary victory. Chief Justice John Roberts added, however, that the case could come back to the high court after further skirmishes at the federal district court level are completed. Ref. USAToday.

I really don't understand the big deal about voter Id laws. Ids are required for many things. Requiring them to do one of the most important things we can do as a citizen is discriminatory? It's no great hardship to get a state Id and it costs around 10 dollars usually.
