B.A.S.I.C

Anyone remember the BASIC programming language? I had to take a class in BASIC when I started college, and while it was a relatively easy course, I never did get to use the language anywhere else. BASIC is most famous for it's GOTO statement. It is a linear language, where GOTO instructions tell the program where to go next in the code lines to execute a statement(s). BASIC stands for Beginner's All-purpose Symbolic Instruction Code. Here is a Wikipedia definition of the language, for those who are not familiar with it

BASIC

I too was required to take a BASIC course in college. I find that for simple programs this to be more useful than many other more sophisticated languages. As a linear language as you have already said it makes this very easy to debug because when it fails you can literally follow the operations to that point and start checking there. I actually wrote a very generic check book balancing program that worked very well. I have lost it somewhere along the way but I was very proud. I believe it was a mere 87 lines of code. How much easier could you truly get?
