Hospital pays ransom in cyberattack
A Los Angeles hospital paid about $17,000 ransom to hackers who infiltrated and disabled its computer network. The chief executive of Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center said it was in the hospital's best interest to pay the ransom after the Feb. 5 attack. Ref. Source 6s.
USD creating 'cyber range' to train students
The University of San Diego is creating a “cyber range” where students will experience simulated online attacks and learn how to defend against them. Set to open next year, the range will demonstrate attacks by lone hackers and foreign governments. Ref. Source 2f.
