| NEWARK, N.J. -- A man who told friends he wanted to celebrate his birthday by killing someone was being sought Wednesday in the fatal shooting of a man outside a city bar over the weekend. Authorities say Arthur L. Tiggs, 26, of Orange, was at the Cave Lounge in Newark early Sunday, drinking with friends to celebrate his birthday. The group stepped outside and Tiggs suddenly said something about wanting to shoot someone simply because it was his birthday, witnesses told police. He pulled out a gun, walked across the street and, without saying a word, shot Lance Pettiford, 27, once in the head, police said. Pettiford, a Newark man who also had been inside the bar, collapsed as Tiggs ran off. |

What is even worse about this is that the perpetrator has a 6-year old daughter that he left with relatives. He then proceeded to tell the relatives he was heading South, most likely to hide. So, this guy showed pre-meditation by stating what he was going to do, and can't plead insanity because he told others he was going to hide. I don't see what case his defense attorney will have if he is found and prosecuted.

Birthday Celebrate Stranger Shoots Man
That is outright rotten! So many people in our society have become so non-chalant about murder. The way the article is written makes it sound like he was just kind of shrugging his shoulders and speaking in a manner like he were talking about the weather.
It's scary to think that he is still out there somewhere. Well, I assume at this point that he is. Is that a local news station for you malexander?

No it isn't BabyBlues. I just happened to come across it while searching news sites, and thought it was unique and interesting to discuss here. I agree that the man was way too casual when stating he wanted to kill someone. But then to act on this impulse was even more shocking to me. I hope he is found and dealt with accordingly.
