HIV-infected young males have higher rates of bone loss than females
Rates of low bone mass are greater in HIV-infected males than in females, accumulating evidence suggests. Researchers studied 11 biomarkers associated with inflammation, bone loss and/or bone formation in about 450 individuals -- assessed by sex and HIV status -- to try to determine causes of this differential bone loss. Transplants between HIV-infected people OK'd
A San Francisco surgeon seeking to perform a liver transplant between two patients infected with HIV will be able to proceed after legislators this week rushed through changes to state law. Gov. Jerry Brown on Friday signed the law Friday. Ref. Source 9i.
