End of the world?
KEALAKEKUA, Hawaii, April 13 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Eric Julien, a former French military air traffic controller and senior airport manager, has completed a study of the comet 73P Schwassmann- Wachmann and declared that a fragment is highly likely to impact the Earth on or around May 25, 2006.

This guy sounds like a few fries short of a happy-meal. He's theorizing that based on crop circles and a vision he had while meditating, that we will experience a major catastrophe May 25. Personally, I have a whole lot to do, so that date doesn't work for me. Also, he says in the article that the scientific community will say there is nothing to fear, this is not going to happen. He also says at one point. "The worst part is that I will be wrong and appear a bird of ill omen."
Bottom line? I don't believe it.
I am surprised something like this has not received more international attention. I could only find one news article on Yahoo! and even there, no one refuted what Mr. Julien was stating. It seems most scientists acknowledge the passing of a comet 11 days earlier, but do not believe a fragment from it can cause the damage Mr. Julien is predicting. The whole theory reads like a science fiction novel to me. For all our sakes, I hope he is wrong.
I am going to go out on a limb and predict that the world will not end on May 25, 2006. I know, I know, call me a prophet if you must, but I'm just using common sense. This guy is not being refuted because he is not being taken seriously. He isn't using real science to predict this, he is using visions and crop circles. I don't buy into it.
