There are many different flags you may see while watching an Indy Car race that you may not understand. The basics are Green (start or restart of face), Yellow (caution or hazardous conditions), White (leader has entered final lap) and Checkered - Black and white (end of race). There are actually many others that are not so common that you may not understand. For the complete index follow the below link. (Very educational)

I have never even seen most of the flags on this index. Its pretty cool to see the different flags like black and white crosses to red and white crosses. The one that took me by surprise was the red flag with a yellow X in it. This means that the pit is closed. A what point would the pit area be closed?
