Many computer desks have a certain place set aside for your monitor to sit. I have found that people have a preference to which side the monitor sits if they have a choice. So this is what I am asking.
Where do you like your monitor placed on your desk?
... To the left?
... To the right?
... Directly in front of you?
While I have several different arrangements that I use from day to day I prefer when I can to have my monitor sitting to the right of my keyboard. My main computer desk however has the monitor mount to the left which I can tolerate but it is not my favorite. I do not like having a monitor directly in front of me.
Oddly enough, I lean, or slump, to the right when at the computer, usually. I prefer my monitor to the left of the keyboard so that it is naturally in my line of sight. Occassionally I will slump left and move the monitor to the right of the keyboard. But I'm with Bwren, I don't like it straight on. My mother on the other hand is an executive secretary and has to have it straight on. It better aids her typing and comfort after long periods of time.
I like my monitor directly in front of my keyboard, which is directly in front of me. So I have a straight alignment with keyboard and monitor. If I slump while sitting, I usually slump down in my chair, and not to the left or right. If my keyboard is to the right or left, I cannot type properly.
Gotta be straight on! I'm at a computer all day, and any other arrangement is just uncomfortable after awhile. Sometimes, when doing straight data entry for long periods, it's better to have the data straight on and the monitor to one side.
