It would seem that I am more analytical and mechanical in the way I go about tips and paying for services. I do agree with the comments from those previous to this post and after my last one.
Tipping is just as much an art as the service that the tip is being given for.
Restaurant servers earn far more than abolitionists realize, new study indicates
The practice of tipping restaurant servers and bartenders has economic advantages for everyone concerned: restaurant owners, their customers, servers and other workers. Ref. Source 8o.
American service industry approaching a 'tipping point'. The average rate at which Americans tip for services has been increasing steadily for decades, but the practice has been branded over the years as classist, anti-egalitarian, and downright undemocratic, leading some restaurateurs to abandon it. A new paper, drawing insight from nonlinear dynamics, hopes to shed light on the economically irrational world of tipping, showing that at a certain point, banning the practice might be fair and profitable. I try to when I have the money. For the simple fact that if I do not, it will unfairly hurt an employee. Even though I feel, as a whole, tipping should not be a thing and is not in other countries. All employees should be given at least a livable wage, not just the minimum wage. With tipping being an excuse by employers not to pay their employees properly and put the burden onto helping to make sure an empoyee can pay their bills onto the customers.
