They each have their pros and cons but I lean more towards Star Trek. I wonder if I will get a Jedi coming to take off my head for that? wink.gif

Star Wars, as cool as it is, has more pieces of action and gadgets than a mystery to it like Star Trek does. In other words Star Trek tends to be more believable and you can relate to the characters. With Star Wars you always know you are just watching a movie and feel no attachment to any of the characters involved.

Why does the Star Wars label still continue to use old technology when they have hyper-warp technology? Maybe they can get a thing or two from Star Trek's: cloaking device, holodeck, tractor beam, transporter, universal translator among others.

The makers of each universe decided different things were possible, that's all.

The SW universe never developed a means of matter/energy transparency, making ST's post scarcity economy, replicators, transporters, and holodecks impossible.

They do however have tractor beams and cloaking devices. The latter just tend to be too expensive for the problems inherent to their use to be common.

As for the universal translator, that's more of a plot device than a realistic piece of tech. Yes, languages can be analyzed to determine basic meanings, but that process takes a hell of a lot more than a few sentences, and certainly couldn't allow for real time translations like it does in most of the show.

As might be expected given the context, Star wars wins out in regards to the technology of war. Both weapons and defense, there is considerably more capability in the pieces found there. They also have better sensors (In most respects at least, they can at least detect cloaked ships), better communication systems, etc.

Trek Star Wars Star

I will keep this short. Star Wars is superior to Star Trek because of Jedi, Sith and lightsabers. It has other advantages also but those alone are enough to make it superior for many people. Star Wars was intended as a space opera. It's basically a fantasy story set in space with the Jedi being the knights of the future. It's the best of both worlds. Fantasy and sci-fi. Probably why I like it. I'm not much into Science Fiction normally.

Myself, I will perhaps always consider Star Wars better, though this I admit could be more as I enjoy the fantastic. Many of the stories just feel more grand, the technology, the force, the antagonists and the heroes.

Star Wars Star Trek

I originally only watch star wars but I do watch the remake version of star trek and base from google look like its not that far from its original plot, despite I like sword fight, I choose star trek regarding plot wise more believable and I like how the character found the solution their problem, showing their ingenuity.
But I need to give star wars credit for their unique planet world with their alien people that manage to give it more alien race feel to it, not just another human face with minimal difference like weird ear or scalp and its an alien.
