MOTELS IN, 'ROUGHING IT' IS OUT
Arthur and Mary Varricchio used to pitch a tent when they visited Acadia National Park. These days, they're more likely to get a motel room with air conditioning, clean sheets and a soft pillow.

I do like to stay in hotels and motels, but I think there is something in camping that can't truly be captured by being pampered in a hotel.
Even the food that you cook on an open fire tastes far better than you can get by having been cooked by a gas or electric hob.
I'll admit that camping is a little more hard work, but it is also so much healthier, and makes you appreciate living out in the open.
It's really fun to go camping and roughing it - if you know how to do it. For folks who have no experience and aren't camping with people who have experience, then it can be a very "rough" experience. For some folks, camping just isn't an option. My mom has always hated anything outdoorsy, and her idea of roughing it is the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
I enjoy the peace and quiet of camping, where there are no distractions from our latest electronic gadget to interfere with your thoughts.
In my opinion.

I completely agree with you farseer. I hate coming home from camping every time I do it. The serene bliss of being out in the wilderness, away from the city beats being in a cramp hotel room any day. I camp when ever I can, but eventually it does get to cold, but rarely is it too hot.
