Yes that is true and I agree but taking a plea bargain and getting the truth of what happened and how it happened maybe can prevent this from happening in the future.

Bergdahl Bowe Sgt

Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl pleaded guilty to desertion and misbehavior before the enemy via his attorney on Monday.

Bergdahl was charged after he disappeared from his base in Afghanistan in June 2009 and was held in captivity by the Taliban until May 2014.

The Taliban released Bergdahl in a prisoner swap for five Guantanamo Bay detainees. Source 7f.

Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl History & Civil Business Politics

Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl avoids prison time, will receive dishonorable discharge after abandoning Afghan post. In announcing the punishment the military judge, Col. Jeffery Nance, rejected a prosecutor's recommendation to sentence Bergdahl to 14 years confinement. Bergdahl was captured by Taliban and held for 5 years after leaving his post. Ref. USAToday.
