Man who took tourists on NYC chase pleads guilty
Original Post Date: 8th Oct, 2010 - 2:46pm

Wow, I can only imagine how scared the French tourists may have felt when this guy decided to go on a chase! Thoughts?

NEW YORK - A man who took five French tourists on a police chase in an illegal airport shuttle van pleaded guilty Thursday to felony assault in exchange for a 90-day jail term. Ian McFarlane could've faced seven years in prison had he been convicted at trial. McFarlane, who is not a U.S. Citizen, could be deported to his native Jamaica after he serves his sentence. Neither he nor his attorney spoke publicly afterward. McFarlane and driver Khaalif Preacher directed the tourists to their unlicensed van as they looked for transportation to Manhattan outside Kennedy Airport in June 2009.... Source 7t

Mother Furious After School Bus Dumps Child in New York City Streets
Original Post Date: 24th Sep, 2008 - 1:32am

This is absolutely unbelievable! How in the world could this happen?!

international QUOTE
NEW YORK — A New York City first-grader was forced to walk the streets alone after he was dumped from a school bus after it had reached the end of the line, the New York Daily News reported Tuesday. School officials said they don't know who put Jaeden Vasquez, 5, on the school bus — especially since he wasn't even supposed to be on it in the first place. He lives across the street from the school in the Bronx. His mother, Aileen Bonilla says the school apologized but that "sorry" wouldn't have replaced her son if he had gotten killed. "You just let a child off a bus when no one's there for him?" Bonilla told the Daily News. "You don't know what could have happened." Jaeden was returned to his mother after the boy approached a woman on the street and told her he was lost. The woman called the school and brought the boy there in a cab, the Daily News reported. School officials claim that don't know who the school bus driver was, but he may have acted inappropriately. They have launched an investigation. Source 9q

New York City's public-transit system, the largest in the nation, will shut down from 1 a.m. To 5 a.m. Wednesday, a new daily ritual for disinfecting during the coronavirus pandemic. This shutdown plan will disrupt the subway system's 24-hour service, which Gov. Andrew Cuomo said was necessary to ensure each train is appropriately cleaned as the state remains the epicenter of the nation's coronavirus outbreak. Ref. USAToday.
