Magpie Introduction

At age 75, this being my first entry into a discussion site, after barely a year on a computer with an online connection, and with only a High School Sophomore education [at a time when girls were expected to marry and have families, not careers] I was taking particular care to use proper English, punctuation and spelling when this confounded machine wiped out the several paragraphs I had managed to construct.
Although exasperated, a friend, who has had a book critiqued on this site piqued my interest so I suppose I will continue to pursue a proper introduction. But even my first attempt left me wondering if I could tell you anything constructive about my interests; they are so many and so varied.
Suffice it to say that I do not embrace traditional, pigeon-holed religious or political beliefs because my opinions are not static. Not any one religion or political party, or social group has all of the right answers. It is one reason why I seek the varied opinions of others. One never knows when a person, who reasons logically, will tweak a new insight into a subject.
As a constructive suggestion: It would help if the religious belief choices on this site included a non-traditional choice for those of us who embrace the actual words of Yahweh, and not some church interpreted doctrine. I chose Jehovah Witness because they most closely use the Bible for their base belief, but it doesn't mean that I embrace all of their beliefs.
Naturally, I welcome help as I try to navigate this fascinating new world of discussion sites!

First off, wow! For a beginner you worded your opening very well! biggrin.gif From a few brief sentences you had me intrigued to read more Magpie. I hope to read more from you in the future. *smiles*

I would have to agree with you on the religion aspect. I didn't necessarily see my point of view either as I am very open minded and a lot of the religion's have things that are very similar, and just different names.

Take care and happy thread hunting/reading!

Introduction Magpie

Hi Magpie. I had to erase your last post in the Don Imus thread because your entire post is Religious in nature and the board where this topic is, is Activism and Politics. Please keep the appropriate messages in the appropriate boards. There are several Religion boards for these type of things, thank you.

I love you.. to know that at 75 you have decided to enter the e-world. I recently started myself and I am so far behind that it is awful. The younger people have just dominated the e-world and they move so fast that I can't keep up.

This site does give an adult a chance to speak out, and yes they are a bit conservative. I have posted to the wrong boards before and got booted. Sometimes they bring up good topics that I would like to bite into but I cannot reply. But on the whole the site is good

This User posted Religious messages about forgiveness and so forth under the Don Imus Thread even though we specifically state NOT to post Religion outside the Religious Boards.

They were told about it, but chose to respond by questioning our level of intellect here. This is not about being conservative it is about being understanding that:

1. Not everyone believes in god / God.
2. Not everyone is Christian
3. This is an International Community, not a specific site for personal rants
4. Sarcasm just because you cannot do as you want to does not get you anywhere especially when you are trying to shoot us with religious dictates!
5. Go post on a Religious Only Community if you want that. If you want to be here then follow the rules. We have 20 something Religious Boards for crying out loud - was that not good enough for you that you have to go and Post in the Politics one too!
