Why Did Lex Turn?

What is the real reason behind Lex become evil? In the beginning it seemed that he had good intentions, not so?

I don't know if I can say that in the beginning he had good intentions as much as he was "fighting" his destiny but he realized he could not fight against it. His father, his teachings, his early childhood experiences are all part in why he became evil.
