Adults Reading Comics

I've heard that the reason Adults Read Comics is because it helps them imagine who they would like to be or relive some unresolved experience of youth. For others, it is just because they are simply loners.

Comics Reading Adults

I love reading comics and fantasy books about hero's. I do fantasize about being hero, being the one with powers to save people and make the world a better place. I think that sometimes it has to do with the feeling of being helpless to make the kind of impact that men in general want to make. We all want to be remembered for something when we die. Some just wish we could be the man every other man looked up to in life.

Adults Reading Comics Reviews & RPGs PBP Anime / Comic

The same could be said about people who read romance novels... the stereotypical housewife who is lonely, looking for romance in her life while her husband fires people to pay the bills. You know, wishing she married her high school sweetheart and all that, but feels stuck with this Human Resource manager who's fat and is going bald. While, I'm sure, others read them to be voyeurs on other people's drama. Not much different from reading a comic book. But thats just a stereotype and not everyone reads comics for the same reason.

I read comics because they spark my imagination... it appeals to my particular sense of humor to see world altering, and often times (or more often than not) ridiculous, situations played out so seriously, by characters who can shoot bazooka shells out of their eyes. That and it inspires me to create my own characters and situations that are super ridiculous, super campy, and super warped... with the undelying simplistic concept of good vs. evil. Yeah, I write comics... what can I say, I'm geeky like that.

Do I want to be a superhero? Nope, too lazy. Am I a loner? Nope, I have a girlfriend (and she hates comic books to boot). But I'm sure a large majority of the comic book reading community do fit your description of an adult comic book reader.

Please don't take this post as me trashing you, its just my perspective on your question/hypothesis.

Comics Reading Adults

Well people read them online and in the newspapers right? So there is no big deal for adults to read it.
