Kentucky clerk Kim Davis thanks supporters upon her release from jail

Rowan County clerk Kim Davis appeared at a Tuesday rally on her behalf outside the Carter County Detention Center, where she had been jailed for contempt of court over her refusal to issue marriage licenses to gay couples. She was ordered released earlier Tuesday on the condition that she not "Interfere in any way, directly or indirectly, with the efforts of her deputy clerks to issue marriage licenses to all legally eligible couples" By U.S. District Judge David Bunning. Her deputies have been issuing the licenses while she has been jailed. Ref. USAToday

Rowan County, Kentucky, Clerk Kim Davis returned to work today, saying she will not issue any marriage licenses that go against her religious beliefs.

She left the door open for her deputies to continue to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples, as long as those documents do not have Davis' name or title on them.

Davis acknowledged that she is not sure on the legality of licenses altered in such a way. Ref. CNN
