Romney to Pro-Lifers: "We Will Uphold the Sanctity of Life"
In an address over the weekend to the Values Voter Summit, presidential candidate Mitt Romney again pledged to promote pro-life values as president should he defeat pro-abortion President Barack Obama.
"We can turn things around. And we can start this November by making a big change at the top. We need a president who shares our commitment to conservative principles and our respect for traditional values," Romney said in the speech. "We will uphold the sanctity of life, not abandon it or ignore it, and we will defend marriage, not try to redefine it. We need a president who understands that we will not have a strong economy unless we have strong communities and strong families. Ref. Source 7
Surprise, surprise after all that talk he is now going to do it? probably the reality of coming clean with the public needs to happen if he wants to beat Obama.
Mormon church threatens to excommunicate member who criticized Romney:
A member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints says that church leadership is on a witch hunt against him after he criticized Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney. Ref. Source 6
If the story is true then its totally ridiculous because they saw his comments on a blog and already scheduled a disciplinary council meeting.
I have been a member for around 40 years, joined when I was in my 20s. The Church has never taken political sides, they have always told us to vote for the most righteous worthy individual we can; the Church does not take political sides in an election, that is not it function and purpose. They teach us correct principles and we hopefully govern ourselves in a righteous God/Christ like manner.
The Church has only made a call, when a grave moral issue is at stake, but even then, your membership would not be taken if you did not want to go along with it. The only way it could happen, was if you came out in public open opposition to the Church; even then, you would be asked to repent first, only if you didn't, would further action be taken.
