My teacher from junior school all those years back, always followed scientific leads that indicated that plants, grass and flowers all grow better and stronger if they were spoken to.
How true this is, I don't know, but he was also involved in experiments to see if plants were in pain when they were cut. This has always stayed in my mind, and I still don't know whether he was just light years ahead of everyone else, or whether he was just a bit wacko!
I have heard this many times, but I doubt that it affects their growth really because plants in open areas rarely have anyone talking to them (if ever) and they grow wonderfully well. I think people who talk to plants will also take the time to notice the plant's needs (water, sunlight, dry leaves, etc.) and will therefore take better care of it.
Okay, so I'm a bit wacko, too I think talking to plants encourages growth because of the positive energy emanating toward the plant. Well, provided the person speaking is doing so in a positive way! And, as JB pointed out, folks who are taking the time to talk to their plants are also those who are more likely to water, weed, and generally care for the plant in the first place.
I don't believe that talking to plants will help them grow better, but I've never had a plant that lived so what do I know? This would be an interesting experiment, two plants exactly alike and being taken care of alike, only one is talked to and the other isn't. Are you willing to try this FarSeer?
