Report: McCain Suppressed Info on Fellow Vietnam POWs Left Behind
We speak to Pulitzer-winning journalist Sydney Schanberg about how the "war hero" candidate Sen. John McCain buried information about POWs left behind in Vietnam. Writing for The Nation magazine, Schanberg reveals that McCain "worked very hard to hide from the public stunning information about American prisoners in Vietnam who, unlike him, didn't return home."

Ever saw the Black American McCains? CNN was showing the Mississippi town that was inhabited by the McCains many years ago. John McCain's great grandfather owned slaves and of course slaves of the time inherited the name of their master. The current descendants of the McCain slaves talk openly about it and consider themselves tied to him. CNN seemed to believe that John McCain distances himself from this aspect of his 'history' as he does not want to look like he cam from slave owner stock.

McCain supporter robbed, assaulted By Jill King Greenwood TRIBUNE-REVIEW Thursday, October 23, 2008 A knife-wielding man robbed a McCain-Palin campaign volunteer and etched a "B" into her face after he saw a McCain bumper sticker on the woman's car, Pittsburgh police said. Ashley Todd, 20, of College Station, Texas, was using an ATM at Liberty Avenue and Pearl Street in Bloomfield just before 9 p.m. Wednesday when a man approached her, put a knife to her throat and demanded $60, police said. Todd handed the man $60 she had in her pocket and stepped away from him, investigators said. The man then noticed the bumper sticker on the woman's car, which was parked in front of the ATM. The man became very angry, made comments to Todd about John McCain and punched her in the back of the head, knocking her to the ground, police said. "He continued to kick and punch her repeatedly and said he would teach her a lesson for supporting John McCain," said police Chief Nate Harper. The man then carved the "B" into Todd's right cheek. Todd, who isn't familiar with the area, drove to a friend's house nearby and told her friend she wasn't sure of the exact location where the robbery took place but remembered a green sign above the ATM. The friend called police and the officer met them on Cypress Street in Bloomfield, police said. Todd's friend offered to drive her back in the direction she came from to look at ATMs until she found the right one, police said. A police officer followed until Todd pointed out a Citizens Bank ATM at Liberty and Pearl, police said. She declined medical treatment at the scene and said she would go to a hospital today. Todd declined to comment. "She is a volunteer for the McCain-Palin campaign," said campaign spokesman Peter Feldman. "Sen. McCain has reached out to her via telephone and has spoken to her and her family," as has McCain's running mate, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, Feldman said. "Out of respect for her privacy we're not going to comment further." Democrat Barack Obama's campaign released a statement saying: "Our thoughts and prayers are with the young woman for her to make a speedy recovery, and we hope that the person who perpetrated this crime is swiftly apprehended and brought to justice." Police described the suspect as black, about 6-foot-4, and said he was wearing dark-colored jeans and a black undershirt. The ATM has a security camera and investigators are trying to watch the video, police said |

Republican HQ Manager's Home Shot Up Over McCain Signs apnews 'Democrats Far More Aggressive in Seminole County,' Victim Says LONGWOOD, Fla. -- The home of a Central Florida Republican headquarters manager was shot up and damaged over his support of Sen. John McCain, the man told police. Rog Coverely said several pellets pierced his Longwood home. Coverely showed several spiderwebbed-holes in the front windows of his home. The Republican manager said he is convinced he was targeted because of new McCain signs he added around his home. "All I can tell you is this, I have a very good relationship with my neighbors," Coverely said. "I mow my lawn. The only thing that has changed is I have two McCain signs in my front yard." Coverely said he has taken about 300 calls concerning stolen or vandalized McCain signs in the area. "It says this campaign is getting vicious," Coverely said. Coverely said it appears Democrats are becoming more aggressive in the county. "I wouldn't say slipping, but I would say the Democrats have become far more aggressive in Seminole County because it is such a heavy Republican area," Coverely said. Meanwhile, McCain was in Florida on Thursday. The Republican presidential nominee spoke at Allstar Building Materials in Ormond Beach. Later he'll be in Sarasota for a "Joe the Plumber" bus tour rally at Robarts Arena. |

McCain Campaign Calls Obama a "Socialist" -- But Why is That a Smear?
As the presidential race enters the final stretch, the McCain campaign has been sharpening a new line of attack against Sen. Barack Obama: charging that his tax plan amounts to socialism. We speak to Harper's publisher Rick MacArthur about whether Obama is a socialist and why being called one is considered a smear in US political culture.

From all indications, and this is purely from a media stand point (not the best), since I'm not in the USA, it seems like McCain will lose, but not by a big margin. However, who can really believe poles given how things turned out with Gore / Bush. I have to wonder if Palin was the boost he needed or if choosing someone else would have given him the edge?
Recently, I saw Obama campaign ads showing McCain saying how he supports the President (Bush) in almost 90% of his decisions. I believe that is how the majority of the US citizenry see it too and that is not good for him no matter how much he tries to distance himself from the Bush name.

The latest polls I saw was 48% for Obama and 47% for McCain. with a +/- of 4 percent I think that puts them in a virtual tie. I believe that it is going to be a close race no matter who you ask.
I believe that being a democrat right now is not the best things as they stated 2 years ago if they were give power that they would end the war in Iraq and bring our troops home. Well they did not do that. I have the feeling that the republicans are going to win more than they lose because of this fact. The democrats went for change two years ago and now they are preaching the same thing again. I believe that is what is making this race soo close. IF the democrats had did what they said they were going to do two years ago this race would not be this close.
Yeah he is seen to be more with bush but I believe that is what is going to help in the republicans eyes. Voting for him will hopefully keep the government strong in their eyes.
